IMG 0547I studied flute at school with David Cheetham and with George Crozier at the Royal Military School of Music.I enjoyed a 15 year career with the Band of HM Grenadier Guards (1978-93), 9 as principal flautist, playing at numerous Royal and State occasions in London and Windsor,high profile corporate functions at venues such as London’s Savoy, Grosvenor House and Park Lane Hilton hotels, and at the UK’s top concert halls including the Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall.I also toured extensively throughout Europe, America, Australia and the Far East.

In 1993 I left to enter music education, spending over 13 years as a peripatetic flute teacher with both King’s School Rochester and Kent Music School. To add to my military qualifications in music I gained a Certificate in Education from Canterbury Christ Church University and a Diploma in Music from the OU both in 2001.Whilst with Kent Music School I directed many large and small ensembles and was Head of both Dartford and Maidstone Music centres.

I joined Medway Adult Learning Service in 2002 as Head of 3 evening centres before becoming curriculum manager for Performing Arts, Fashion and Creative Writing in 2004. I also played for 14 years (1995 – 2009) with The Kohima Band of the Princess of Wales’Royal Regiment, taking the baton for a number of dinner nights when the bandmaster was a guest.

As a freelance professional musician I perform widely across Britain in widely diverse musical genre which include duet recitals with renowned local classical guitarist Adrian Burridge, the newly formed ‘Il Fienile’ Wind Quartet and the famous ‘British Imperial Marching Band.

I am currently the Music Director of; Invicta Concert Band, a community wind band based in Herne Bay; The Peninsula Big Band, a traditional 14 piece big band; I am also Music Director of a number of adult ensembles with Kent Creative Arts Centre in Medway and currently involved in a scheme to teach small group theory lessons aimed at taking pupils through the preparation for the Associated Board’s grade 5 exam, I also teach individual
instrumental lessons to adults.
